Hi All
I hope this has not been posted already (apologies if it has) but a search brought up 'Yaktrak Pro' anti slip, which appear to be for serious walkers ..

Yaktrax Ice Grips £7.66 @ Amazon, free delivery
(I bought a pair of these as well - though they were a bit dearer as I needed the large size for my husband)
whereas I was just looking for something to stop me slipping on the steps going down to feed the chooks at the bottom of the garden...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004AQVZNG/ref=s9_cxhsh_co_g86_ir01?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=left-4&pf_rd_r=1VH7WD2T1T5XMQTBW1YF&pf_rd_t=3201&pf_rd_p=466496433&pf_rd_i=typ01
According to the link, they are reduced from £14.99 to £3.99, which I thought was worth buying as, if they are rubbish, at least they haven't cost the earth...
I bet the snow and ice will be gone by the time I get them... but they will come in handy next winter...
Cheers
PS If they are rubbish, I'll just use the Yaktrax ones that I have ordered for my husband !!

Thank you just purchased. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Just looked again after ordering some this morning. They have the bigger sizes in now so ordered another pair. Thanks for that officeguru.0

Many thanks I have been looking to buy these for a while but could only find them for £15+!0

I've had a similar pair of these for a couple years now (they're a German make, just like the ones issued to my local post office) and can attest that they do indeed work very well. Before them I had a real fear of going out on snowy days, as I ALWAYS slipped and fell, but walk far more confidently now :T0

Wonder if you can get kiddie sizes as cheap anywhere?0

Hello,
I am trying to find a pair of these for my mother. However these and others I have looked at need to be stretched over the shoe and my mother will not be able to do that.
Does anyone know of any which can be fitted/wrapped around shoes using velcro or something similar?
Many thanks,
Garrie0 -

My Mum and Dad use the tried and tested method of socks over their shoes (they use thick walking socks) and claim it works wonderfully. They also would be unable to use these devices as could not stretch them on or off their shoes nor could they bend to remove them when entering shops etc. Socks over shoes do not pose the same issues. Once they are on they can stay on. Parents are 84 and 77 years young.0 -

These are velcro'd ; http://www.blacktoe.co.uk/ice%20Grips/JH-220%20Metal%20Snow%20Grip%20-%20Metal%20Ice%20Grip.htm

Or these are even cheaper & say ''single pull velcro strap'' so should be easier than the fit around the whole shoe ones ; http://www.amazon.co.uk/AA-Snow-and-Ice-Grips/dp/B0046RDLQI
