Cloth that doesn't slip on glass table?

I have a glass topped table which I put a tablecloth onto, but the cloth slips about on the glass all the time. As I use the table for sewing, writing etc it gets very annoying. :mad:
I have been trying to think if there is any fabric type thing I could put on the glass that doesn't slip about, I can always put a tablecloth on top of it if it isn't pretty.
Any ideas?
PS This is money saving because I can't afford a new table...:D

Dunelm do a heatproof undercloth on a roll. It's amazing!

You buy the length you need for your table, and cut it to fit the sides - The top is sort of a 'cushioned' hexagonal design - the underneath is a sort of felt.

Not only does it stop your cloth from slipping, it saves any scratches AND it's heatproof, so if you don't have a mat on when you put stuff down it doesn't mark.

My MIL showed me - and took me and showed me what to buy - it's a heartproof undercloth, just like my granny had (Only not so green, and a lot more techy I'm sure) - I LOVE it.

I bought a 'waffly'[ grippy mat in B&Q. Cut to length and put under cloth. Worked a treat for me. They also sell the heatproof felt backed stuff mentioned above.

Oh thank you! Is that the plastic stuff in squares? Do you know it's real name?

Mine wasn't plastic stuff in squares - it's like fabric on a roll, but a couple of mm's thick, felt underneath and cushioning on the top - they had several designs, I bought biege (can't go wrong eh?).

If you go and look you'll find it, but heat proof undercloth would work in the sewing department of Dunelm if you have one near you.

Thank you, is it slip proof as well as heatproof? It doesn't really matter about the heat as it's a glass table.

mine doesn't slip about at all - but it's on wood. I guess it's the paddingness of it.

you could use that anti-slip rug stuff,its like a spongy web,really cheap £2 ish from B&M bargains/wilkinsons/ sort of places.

You can also buy this (the waffley non-slip matting) in Poundland and the 99p shop. It's usually near the cleaning stuff. It comes in 1.5m rolls and is great.

I've got it under all my mats and the seat cushions on my sofa - it stops them slipping off.
