I like my steak medium rare, any suggestions for the best value cut for this would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Feather blade is good and cheap - you'd need to ask your butcher for it though, it needs to be cut for frying rather than braising. It's yummy!0

Aldi (so probably Lidl as well) do very cheap and good quality steaks. We paid around £3.50 for 2 good rump steaks, or about £3ish each for sirloins. They sometimes have rib eye for similar prices, generally cheaper than sirloin and I find it's good cooked slightly longer as the fat is marbled through it and this allows time for it to melt more, even though I generally have my steaks very rare.
Alternatively, skirt steak is a cheap cut and perfectly fine done med rare. Morrisons sell it or most butchers should have it.Proud to be a moneysaver

depends on where you shop hun - a good butchers will advise you! in a supermarket I usually go for rump steak if its a nice dark red and there is plenty of marbling! a very lean bright red steak WILL be tough!
I prefer ribeye and its usually nice and tender. you can occasionally get Tbone - which is gorgeous!
Sirloin if I cant get anything else - but again it has to be dark red and plenty of marbling fat. I dont like fillet - expensive and although its tender it has very little taste! compared to the other cuts that is!0 -
ALDI have ribeye as a special buy from Thursday for £4.99 per 400g. No idea what it's like but thought it might interest someone

A few weeks ago I got some *basic*steak from mr.M it was about £2 for nearly a pound in weight, small bits and I fried them in a very hot pan, then put them in crusty rolls with some fried onions and they were so nice we had some more on Friday.
For a main meal size steak I think sainsbug have a special offer on rump at the moment.
