Giving up on the job search

    I can share total empathy with you here. I too am becoming increasingly disheartened by my perpetually fruitless job search. What makes it worse is when these employers don't even have the decency to reply. And don't even get me started on those accursed employment agencies!

    Makes you wonder when all the misery is going to end, doesn't it?

    It really does, I've gave up on employment agencies and these jobs they advertise that don't exist, the only comforting thing is we are not alone in this.

    Are you for real? The plethora of apprenticeships I have applied for and been turned down on the basis of my age seem to negate your comment.

    Oh, and I'm only 28; government funding assists 16 - 24 year olds. The learning providers are completely opposed to taking on those above that age due to the lack of funding they will receive.

    I even wrote to my MP about this; needless to say they weren't terribly interested.
