Halifax, realistically, how long before they repossess?

Update:
I got a phone call from Halifax early this morning. Sounded like a call centre. They were just asking what the problem was and said that charges were being added because of the missed payments etc.
I didn't mention anything about VR, I just said I'd been made BR at the end of 2011 and that at the moment, we didn't have any money to pay the mortgage. He said that it's been noted but that he had to warn me that "legal action" was likely after 3 months of missed payments.
I presume the "legal action" is just the start of the repossession process.
Anyway, at least I don't feel the need to contact them now
