I have relatives living in a tourist area of the UK.
They tell me the locals get the crap from the local butcher, while the tourists staying locally who think it's 'quaint' that such a small independent butcher still survives get given the good meat, so they go away thinking how wonderful the place is.....

When searching through wood at a timber merchant for an unwarped piece I asked how they got rid of some of the bent stuff. They confessed that when a 'pro' rang up wanting a few hundred feet of it they lobbed in a few of the dodgy pieces on the basis that neither customer nor their 'highly trained staff' would notice, or the customer had over ordered in the first place, and anyway they would be getting a quantity discount.....so sod 'em.
