Thanks to Martin's recommendation I have just applied and been accepted for another 0% card. This time its the HSBC card and its 0% until April 2008. Im hoping to get our £17000 debt paid off completely by then. I am going to transfer £6000 onto the HSBC account from a card where the introductory 0% rate is about to run out. We've already got about £5500 on MBNA which is 0% until October (though I paid a BT fee of £70)). Ive got £3200 with Lloyds cc who offered me 0% for 6 months last month. There are also 2 other cards which are about to run out but I am hoping to pay them off in the next couple of months otherwise there is always the 0% anniversary offer from Egg which starts next month for 5 months.
This means that all of our debt is at 0% and I am well on track for paying it off. Im going to pay the two smaller amounts off first, followed by the Lloyds account. Then I will tackle the two biggies, MBNA first. The HSBC account is going to cost me a BT fee of £50 but thats nothing really for peace of mind until April 2008.
So I would like to say thank you to Martin and this site because otherwise our debt would be costing a fortune and it wouldnt be going down as quickly as it is and I might even have considered a consolidation loan in desperation. I am really pleased and motivated. Thank you, thank you, thank youl:j :j

It's great isn't it whan you suddenly realise you are in control of your debt and not the other way round! I did something similar to you thanks to this site - I applied for a 12 month 0% card and did the 'credit card shuffle' - Martins ideas and advice gave me the confidence to play the system. Yipeee for MSE!:T :T

Congrats on the HSBC acceptance. I have just got mine through and have transferred £6500 of our debt onto it. As you say, peace of mind until Apr 08.
I have also just got accepted for Egg, 0% until Nov 07, and the rest of our debt is going on there. So like you, we will have everything on 0%. Big relief as our furst baby is due in May, so it gives us a little breathing space.
Good luck with clearing all by Apr 08What's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)

Well done Lydia for getting all your debt on 0% and good luck to you with clearing the debt. Also congratulations on the baby. A word of advice. Dont be generous to your child in the first year of life as we did. The baby doesnt know any difference and you will be far better getting yourself straight for when the child is older for it is then that they really suffer any debts you might have. If I could go back now I would do things differently and would be in a better position today.
Yes, thermaccas, on the MBNA card I paid about £70 and on this new one its 2% which I think works out about £50. However, I think this is well worth it for such a long term of 0% and I feel for the first time that we are really going to beat this debt. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

I wouldnt say you were low life though. (i know what you mean. It probably works out we pay about the same in the end as I pay BT fees every time I take out another 0%)The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
