Job application mess up

Hi all .
I worked through an agency with a very large water company for 2 1/2 yrs as a hgv driver
I worked night shift 18:00 -5am 5 nights a week.
I worked for about the past year alone which didnt bother me as i would see other workers when I delivered to their sites.
I asked for a pay rise to put me up to the same pay as other agency staff who where doing the same job on other sites.
Within a month of that I was told my services where no longer needed.
It took 2 managers 2 hrs to tell me I had done nothing wrong. I had a lot of questions but they would only say you have done nothing wrong .
Here is where it gets odd.
I was told if a job came up apply as I was a good worker and not to give up on the company.
A job came up within a week of me leaving and I applied.
I heard nothing for about a month so decided to phone 1 of my day colleagues who told me he had a txt come through on my company phone (which i handed back when leaving ) saying i had been short listed for the job.
problem was I got told this 2 days after the interview date !!
when i got home that day a letter had come which was an interview schedule giving the names of 6 people and the times for the interview(2 days late)
I called them and asked what was going on and was told erm erm erm we dont know .
I called again and was told the job had gone ( the person is picked on the day of interview) and they would get back to me with what had gone wrong .
Now i have heard nothing for over a month but think they should not be able to act in this way.
should they have sent me the names of other interviewees?
should they act in such a cowboy way when they are an FT100 company?
Sorry if this is long winded but I thought I would put it out for you lot to have a think about .:)

Oh by the way its my first thread on this name ( my original details had a name that I didnt like and was created about 5 year ago)I used to love shoping in Tesco when they had the get it free if you know how policy. i got a PSP xx0

So when you applied for the job you gave them your works mobile number - why
Why didn't you give them your personal number.
Why didnt someone who got the text forward it on to you.
The names sent to you, its not an issue really.
As far as the new company are concerned you just didnt turn up for your interview.
Have I read it right.
Best thing to do is ask them to keep your details (with an amended phone number) on file for any other jobs that come up.
And I do understnad your frustration.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
i think the real crux of it is the job came up after he was let go...same company? But then I might have read it wrong0

I gave them my own personal number as I handed my work phone back .
They could only get my WORK mobile number from the data base . I have checked and they have got my own number on my cv .
The job came up after I left and was shortlisted but because of their incopitance I was not told about the interview until after .
Should they be transparant in their inerview selection process ?
Thank you for taking the time to reply
I was also wondering about the 5 other names on the interview schedule they sent me.
From what I have been told by the company they do not send these out and only get in contact through email .
Why I got the txt(or didnt) and the interview schedule is a mystery0 -
Err, having the names of the other candidates is a breach of data protection and it should be dealt with as a serious issue by the company. If you had their details then it is safe to imagine that they had your details too.
This could have brought all sorts of problems prior to interview. There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0 -
I was thinking if I have their names what have they got (I sent them a cv ) of mine ?0
-
Why are they inviting people to interviews via text? Surely, as a FTSE 100 company their (presumably large) HR department will have mastered the art of letter writing; which would include sending this out in advance of any interview. IMO, a text would not be sufficient means to communicate the full details of an interview.
OP, are you saying that they deliberately jeopardised your chances?0 -
It would appear that they jeopardised my chances of getting the job .
They have said they should have sent me a letter and an email saying when the interview was but I have received neither.THey couldnt explain why i was sent an txt to my wworks phone or why i had not been emailed.0 -
There's no obligation to invite you to interview even given errors, so that's not worth pursuing. You cannot force them to see you nor to change their decision. It sucks but it isn't in any way illegal.
The list of names is unfortunate. Mistakes do happen though. Have you suffered any actual financial loss from other people having your name? If not I would settle for an apology.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0
