  • You want to take out a horrendously expensive loan to pay off a bill that you don't have to pay???

Wait until you have the money then pay off the electricity bill.

Speak to the elec co about the bill and come to some sort of agreement about paying it.

    None come with 'offers', sorry
it is probably the most risky thing you can do entering card details over the net

You would be better trying to join your nearest credit union ;)

If you insist on going down payday loan avenue - make sure you choose a lender with a strong presence (well known)

They are all a "total rip off". You could get a credit card but even then they average about 20% interest which you could not save by moving providers.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Wow lots of food for thought thanks a lot for all your suggestions and replies so far!! :)...I’m so angry because they’re making me go further and further into debt!! I’ll pay the increased DD and then no doubt they’ll present me with a large settlement again at the end of the year… GIT’S!!

Are you making sure you read the meter regularly? Pay the increased DD, then in the summer your usage should drop so you can catch up.
  • hahahahaaa yeah id love to just use less. 2 bed flat me and my gf work full time. there is no gas the whole place runs on electric. we only have an emersion heater. its on from 2am till 6.30 am then we use the booster in the morning. you wanna see the meter going when we put it on..its crazy.:)

I'd rather be owe my utility company money than a PDL company. If you dont pay back in time you'll be in debt a hell of a lot more than a utility company could put you.
  • Hi aaron

Has someone from the electric company been out to make sure everything is working properly?
and that your on the best plan even

    Don't worry I'm in a similiar situation!
They tried to put my Direct Debit up by a lot recently even after not switching on heating till as late in the winter as possible and then it's low, but I had them easily put the D/D back to what it was while trying to get the above done, then if I am in debt I have a few months more to try and do something so don't give up heart but I know it is a frustrating time
