Waiting for offer

Right bought a flat from auctions last wednesday and ive got until the 28th Feb to get finance sorted. Applied for mortgage like 2 weeeks ago through london and county and theyr taking ages. The property hasnt even been surveyed yet. I panicked a little and applied via Halifax myself. Is it legal to apply for two mortagages with separate lenders?

To be honest im not bothered about 2 surveys. I have to get the finances sorted out in less than 2 weeks time or else i will lose my deposit which is 15k. My mortgage adviser keeps telling me instructions are being sent for surveyors to value the property. Im worried that they are going to reject my application ,hence they are delaying things so much, therefore ive applied for another mortgage at a local bank. What if both mortgage lenders give me an offer? ive signed declarations etc so that i can apply for them and ive not read the smallprints.

why did the broker take so much time?

i dont know. Ive been waiting for a survey since the 7th and its still not been done.

which mortgage did you prefer?

L&c sourced a 5.39% fixed from Abbey but they're taking ages. Halifax are doing one for 5.69% but they are much more efficient. So whoever offers me first then im afraid im gonna have to take it cos im running out of time
