Replacing fire throat plate?

Options
We have a wood/coal fire & the throat plate has warped badly. My dad always dealt with all that but he died at the back end of last year. My mum doesn't know where to get a replacement from.
I tried google but what I found doesn't look like what we have in place. So where do you start?

I could upload a photo tomorrow if it'd help any?

    Try your local fireplace shop.

If they deal with a company called the gallery collection, the suppliers for that sell all and sundry when it comes to solid fuel.

Unfortunately no fireplace shop here. I asked & there's nothing. Nothing in the yellow pages.

Perhaps if you say where you are someone may know of a fire place retailer that covers your area?

any engineering shop can cut you a steel plate to match your pattern.
it wont last as long as a cast iron one, but itll last many yrs.

It looks like a removeable restrictor plate product code HS5M8441 for Rhapsody 51 and 51S heating appliances. Not that I know anything about such things. How did I come to that conclusion? I took the marking 8441 on one of the pics and googled "8441 throatplate".

I suggest you check for any other part numbers on the whole appliance, google them up and when you get a match, contact whichever website you got the info from.

I googled this: http://www.rjpryce.com/Products/rayburn-roomheater-spares/RAYH8444 but it looks nothing like ours.

The coal/wood fire is quite old. It's been in as long as we've been here so straight away it's a minimum of 26yrs old.
My mum spoke to a chap yesterday about it & he was recommending replacing it ... at a cost of £2000.

That is because you have googled 8444 instead of 8441, I imagine, getting a bottom grate instead.

If we have established it is a rayburn rhapsody then googling "rayburn rhapsody spares" yields an 8441 at a cost of £68.63 here http://www.simply-spares.co.uk/throat-plates-130-c.asp
