Hello everyone, This is my first post. Iv got a slow cooker, but have been slightly dissapointed with the flavour of my beef stews. Im unable to use stout as my son has coeliac disease so cannot eat gluten. I would love to have some sure fire recipes that will impress my family as im not the best cook in the world. I would love to come home from work every day after whipping something together in the morning or night before. All recipes would be appreciated. Thanks

and if you look through posts 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Grocery Challenge there is a recipe collection that is being added to all the time with SC recipes dotted in there.

I have 2 who are coeliac and have found that over time it has become a lot easier to deal with. We all eat a GF diet, the only thing I ever do seperate is pasta and bread.

Any questions just ask and I will do my best to help.

ETA: Meant to say if you are adapting one pot or casserole recipes don't use as much liquid as the SC will create it's own liquid as well.

I know the ones you mean, and its got to be oven cooked if you want roast meat, I roasted one last night, 1 hour and 40 mins at gas mark 5.

I usually leave beef in overnight.
    many thanks T

Chicken in the SC is a bit of a marmite situation, you either love it or you don't.

I love it. Our favourite is quarter a couple of lemons and stuff in the cavity. Put slices of garlic under the skin and lots of ground sea salt and pepper rubbed into the skin. Pop into the SC as it is, no added liquid and turn on. It doesn't come out like a roast but is still yummy and the meat falls off.

Honey and whole grain mustard is another favourite.

That will do us for the 'roast' type meal. Then something like pie, risotto, curry etc. The bones will go to make stock (I bung them in the freezer until I have a couple to do.)

You literatly put wholegrain mustard over the top and the legs of the chicken and then drizzle honey over it.
