I might be able to dig this out for you at the weekend if no-one has replied in between times. In December 2005 it was £90 for redemption and £90 for the legal work. They were really miffed when I said we would do the legal work ourselves but as that was the t&cs at the time, they had no choice but to do it that way. I understand they have since changed it to a horrendous flat fee.0

You can find out here http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/mortgages/article.html?in_article_id=417037&in_page_id=8
However, don't get too excited yet. It appears that, unlike other lenders, Abbey are stalling, and waiting until 28 February to make a policy decision :mad:0 -

Have to disagree with you there.
As mentioned in a thread which I started last night, I complained to Abbey when we had paid off the balance of our mortgage in december about this redemption fee and although it has taken until now, after having been escalated up to Head Office complaints department, they agreed to refund the fee (even though we hadn't paid it
)
The cheque for said amount arrived today and I will be paying back to Abbey so I can get my deeds!2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

Well, that is clearly not the experience off people on this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=363731&page=10
Our re-mortgage away from Abbey should be completed today. I am not rocking the boat by writing to them until I am sure it has happened because getting away is worth far more than the excess fee. I was not surprised to see that they are charging the current £225 despite the FSA report.0 -

Exactly the same here, my remortgage away from the abbey completed last Wednesday and it included the horrible £225. I too have let it stand while it completed but I already have the template ready to send my letter off next week. I am only expecting a refund (I hope) back to the £90 that it was when I took the mortgage out.0
