Late Payment

My Mother-in-Law passed away on 5th Jan, and we informed her former works pension dept. on 6th Jan.

Her last pension payment was mid Dec. so was expecting a payment mid Jan for the Period of 1th Jan until 5th Jan.

As yet, we have received no payment, altough we have incorrectly received a letter, stating that she had been paid up until end Jan 2012 !

After another set of phone calls, this was replaced with a corrected letter, but no payment.

Should I start charging them a fee for late payment ?

No to the late payment charge, you cant just make up rules as you go along.

What did the corrected letter say
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

same as the first, but with the date changed to Dec 2011, and that thet was a payment due for the period 1st Jan to 5th Jan 2012.

This is what we were informed when telephoned on the 6th Jan, and was told that a cheque would follow.

If payment was usually made payable mid month, you would have though the cheque would be also mid-month !

I thought you could claim compensation under the Late Payment legislation, as surely they've had enough time to make the payment.

There is probably a bit more admin to do after a death, I would just try to be patient a little while longer, it can't be a great deal of money if its only for a few days.

    Compensation - give over.

Death kind of changes things and upsets routines - I find.

Have you proved the Death and who is entitled (Executor?) to the balancing payment?
