For years now, when I open the post at work I save the un-franked stamps, and put them in a cup of boiling water for a few mins. The stamps then come straight off the envelope, and I dry them out on a saucer.

The franked stamps are always sent to a local charity. Everyone benefits!

  • I just get a saucer and put a bit of water in it, put the stamp in, picture side up and leave for a minute or two - peels off lovely!

I didn't think stamps were worth anything to charities if they weren't still attached to the envelope? I thought they had to have something like 1.5 inches each side to be worth anything?

Or so it said in the Reader's Digest long ago! :)

Does anyone know what charities still accept stamps? Most don't seem to any more. Amnesty International still did the last time I checked but that was about it. I'd be glad to hear of more.

Although I've just found this page which might answer the question for me! :)

yep but if there is nothing local, try blind homes and hospices near you.
