First she needs to get off the BR code. Speak to payroll about what happened to the P45 (assuming that this did not have a BR code on it, check with the part 1A she kept) If they have no record of recieving the P45 she should ask for a P46 and fill it in so that her employer can apply 747L on a week 1 basis (emergency code) Depending on her earnings this may be enough to stop any more tax being taken it will certainly reduce it. If the P45 comes tp light it may sort out the tax or not depending on the code if it does not or she has to fill in a P46 then she will need to contact the tax office to chase up the issueing of a cumulative code and pay and tax details to her employer.0
