I'm in a 6 month contract and just wanted to know if my employer terminated my contract at any point would they have to pay out the outstanding months left in the contract?

Most likely no... unless its written into the contract. There is probably a clause in the contract for termination and what notice has to be given.0

Most contractor contracts have a 7, 14 or 28 day clause.
Assuming they arent accusing you of anything that would be considered a breach of contract then they would give you the notice as required by the contract. Remember as a contractor there is no need for them to justify the termination if notice is given no matter how long you have been there.
Technically if your work has been massively below standard, you've been AWOL etc then they could claim breach of contract and normally there is then the ability to terminate without notice. Obviously if you disputed this you could litigate for your notice payment and so it is rare that this happens.
In neither case are they required to pay you the remainder of the contract. These are the risks we accept in exchange for the higher rates of pay0 -

It is possible but, for the reasons other have indicated above, fairly unlikely.
Generally speaking you would have needed to be in a very strong bargaining position when you agreed the contract to get that sort of term included. If that was the case I would have assumed you would have a pretty good ideal what had been agreed.
If somebody is headhunted for a particular position then they may be able to insist on all kinds of unusual protections to be built in. However, in that case they would usually have a solicitor acting for them and a pretty strong idea of the terms.0
