    There is a £100 penalty for not registering as self-employed within 3 months of starting. There is also the unpaid tax that will be due after he has completed a self assessment (at the end of the tax year).

    thank you to everyone who helped, we discussed this last night and decided if he was going to go self employed he might aswell give it a good push and try to make some proper money at it :) we will discuss it abit more over the weekend then i'll be contacting the tax office to see what info ect we need on monday.
