Last November I posted on this forum about a work problem.
In brief, I had applied for a job which I had effectively created, money had been found to fund the post and it seemed I was not being considered for the post.
On the advice of some of the posters on here, I got in touch with HR and made an appointment to see our departmental adviser but before my appointment I received an email inviting me to interview. (I did outline my problem in my email to HR).
Anyway, there were last minute changes to the interview times, meetings were moved, it would seem to accommodate me as I was fitted in at a late stage.
I got through the first round, excellent presentation and ideas etc but someone else did better at the competency questions so we had another round of interviews, tests and presentations.
Apparently they loved my ideas for the role and my comprehensive and thorough presentation so I got the job! They thought I really understood the role (not surprising really) and I had a real passion for it (which I do).
Anyway, I just thought I would post the good news.
I will never know if HR did have a word with my department head but I think something was done. Better still, I have impressed my department head and a couple of other people on the panel who, presumably, did not recognise my potential before, but seem to see me in a different light now AND I get to rum my own projects. :j

There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.
