It was petty and small-minded when you posted it the first time. Not even wrong0 -
Ms_Chocaholic wrote: »Thanks for asking. People who post competitions go to a lot of effort to search for and post competitions to give us compers a chance of winning, without them we would each win ZILCH. For that reason alone I thank their post and any subsequent posts of people who provide answers, find duplicate posts, request a merge etc etc.
The issue is that PorkPie didn't thank the person who posted the competition when they entered it, only when they won the prize but had they not posted the competition PorkPie wouldn't now have a Corsa.
What makes it worse is that PP never took the time to thank the poster of the competition in his/her posting informing us all of their lucky win Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Sorry but it really gets my goat.
I dont post often, but I feel this is a bit harsh on the OP. They thanked the poster, so what if it was after they won.
I and I'm sure many others enjoy reading about peoples good fortunes and posts like this may put people off letting us know in future.
MSE isnt a popularity contest, or a competition to see who can get the most thanks.
Yes everyone is very very grateful to those who take the time and effort to post competitions on the boards. Why does it matter if they are thanked before or after.
I myself am guilty of forgetting to thank posters, whether its from being distracted or getting logged out for inactivity and forgetting to go back, it doesnt mean I'm ungrateful which I'm sure porkpie isnt.
Congratulations porkpie! Enjoy your win :T:TWins for 2013: Cafetiere (£40), Mangajo Drinks, Alan Partridge goodies0 -
I think people should lay off of Ms. Chocaholic. She is just expressing her opinion. I know we all forget to click thanks sometimes but it is wrong to say that it is NOT a big part of MSE. It is obviously a very big part because it signifies the spirit of the comp boards. There are a core group of people who work really, really hard to search out the comps, buy magazines, research the answers and post the comps lightning fast. The least we can do is to make sure we click thanks every time someone helps. I don't know how some of our posters do it. They make me tired just thinking about it. :T They are angels and don't get any reward other than a thanks and if someone wins from one of their comps, hopefully a nice message.:A
I am most disappointed because I want to hear more about porkiepie's win and she hasn't posted a word since Feb. 2nd. A car is a big win! She obviously doesn't owe us but it would be the nice thing to do to reply to the person who posted the comp and share in the celebrations with fellow MSErs so that we hear about what it is like to win something most of us will never win. Also, I offered to scan in a photo of the car as she was wondering what it looked like on the day and she never replied, so it makes you wonder how much of the spirit of comraderie there is.
Just my two cents.0 -
Expressing opinions is one thing, but not in that harsh manner. It could have been done more tactfully.
No one knows why porkpie hasnt posted, have you maybe stopped to think someone might have happened in their life that makes MSE pale into insignificance.
Above all everyone should be nice and polite, which is surely THE most important thing on these boards dont you think?Wins for 2013: Cafetiere (£40), Mangajo Drinks, Alan Partridge goodies0 -

I searched porkiepie's profile and she has been on-line since and thanked some posts on the puzzler forum. I think it would be cool to hear about the car.Above all everyone should be nice and polite, which is surely THE most important thing on these boards dont you think?

Congratualtions - what a fantastic prize.0

Makes sense to me.
Thanks
I think most people are forgetting an important fact here, just look at the amount of major prizes he says hes won???
Hmmm the word cloud cuckoo comes to mind
suprised that belfast would be allowed to enter some the prizes they say theyve won..
Just my 2 cents, as for why dont they reply - maybe its because of just that cuckoo:rotfl:Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -

They don't give a time frame and I think for someone who has been doing it a few years that is quite a reasonable prize haul.....was different before so many people joined and are now entering every competition"Those who try to make sense of the world are divided into four categories: scientists, theologians, philosophers, and fools. Correction ... make that one category with three sub-divisions" -- Carlo Kensada0 -
Fantastic news ....Well Done0

It does seem amazing but I believe it is all true - porkpie1981 has won all those prizes.
By the way porkpie1981 is in fact female.
She was the June 2011 winner on this comp

Which ties in with the name of one of the Belfast winners on the abysmal Golden Wonder ( Wonga) competition last year.

I'm sure there are other ways of checking out any other prizes which people on here may doubt.
Well done to porkpie1981 ( I wish I had her good luck)0
