Do Tesco do price cuts?? ;)
Thought Tesco only had an "elevator" of late..................no stopping it either. :D

The Aldi cuts do seem low, but a positive is they are not being manipulated to create an illusion - small cuts off regular prices.
Hope they never go down the route of doubling prices just to create "better than half-price" offers.
Better pennies off than pennies on. :money:

Lol, I know what you mean.
Started at £1.20, up to £1.29 and then the "price drop" to £1.24. :D

  • I've cut my food bill to less than £40 a month, since buying the vast majority of my food out of Aldi [I might buy the occasional item out of Tesco, like a Cheese baguette I picked up earlier] and while, on the whole, my costs have been slashed drastically, Aldi do have some strange pricing on certain items.

Take their Green beans, for example - they were .89 at the start of the year [well, January 3rd]. On January 10th they'd fallen to .79. On January 17th they'd fallen again, this time to .69 a pack.

Today they were priced at .99 a pack.

The 1KG bags of carrots also seem to fluctuate + / - .10 each week.

Not complaining though, as they're still waaaay cheaper than the more "mainstream" supermarkets :)
Live Healthily for £40 a month challenge:
    January 2012: £36.51 spent.
    February 2012: £39.55 spent.
    March 2012: £38.02 spent.
    April 2012: Skipped.
    May 2012: £24.13 [So far].

The fluctuations are good though, you know aldi are doing it in respect to supplier costings based on supply and demand. you know tesco are doing it on profit costings based on margin and forced supply + demand.

If you go into aldi next week you won't see a sticker saying "PRICE DROP NOW 89P save 10P!!"

Haha I remember going to buy a crate of their little bottles of beer and they had a big sign above it saying 'WAS £3.25 (or whatever it was), NOW £3.24!'.
