Taxis in Bangor

For once in my life I'm taking my good lady out to a function in Bangor on Saturday night. It should finish around 11-11:30, could anyone tell me how easy it would be to get a taxi at this time? Also where are the taxi ranks at? We'll be down by the Royal Hotel.

The taxi's are normally queued up around the corner at the bottom of High Street,(which is a bloody nuisance for other road users but that's OT) & at the taxi rank outside the station up the top of Main Street.
That time of night it may be a considerable wait for one as that's 'pub central' up High Street & is bloody mayhem at pub kicking out times, last time we got one it was a 45minute wait at least in the taxi office.Your best bet in all honesty would be to pre-book one to collect you at the Royal rather than wait.

You'll have no problem getting a taxi at that time.

I think they are currently trialing a new taxi rank at the weekends. It's just beside the McKee Clock.

Otherwise, just ring from your venue and you should get on without a problem.

    Enjoy your night out.

11-11.30 isn't "kicking out" time. If the OP waited until after midnight, he might have a problem.

Well it was when I drank in Bangor...mind you that was a few years ago, beer was about £2 a pint then...
  • Thanks - sounds like we sound be able to get one quite easily at that time of the night. I think 11-11:30 was kicking out time the last time we were out in Bangor and looking for a taxi:D

Taxis now must use the rank just across from Royal Hotel so you will just have to walk across the road to the rank and there are even two taxi wardens appointed to ensure people don't push in so I am sure you will be able to get a taxi easily.

According to this week's Spectator the public like the new arrangement the taxi drivers however are grumbling.
