in Cutting tax
This is a bit of a complex work situation - so hopefully someone will be able to help.
I work 20 hours in a p/t job. I pay tax and NIC on my earnings there.
I work 8 hours in another p/t job. I pay tax on this but not NIC as it is below a certain weekly amount.
I also am self-employed for a portion of the week, usually average about 12 hours. I will be doing a self-assessment at the end of this tax year and so I imagine I will be paying Class 2 NIC on my earnings while self-employed.
My question is about the 8 hour post where I am not paying NIC. Obviously if my 1st job was for 28 hours I would be paying a % of the whole amount so I'm paying less than I would.
Is this correct, or will they be looking for more from me at some point?

NIC are payable on each job individually unlike tax which is cumulative so there is no requirement to pay on any job until you earn £139 per week.0

^^ True.
And if your taxable income from s/e is under about £5000 then you could ask for a certificate of exemption from Class 2 NICs.Signature removed for peace of mind0
