Ebay 2nd Income Advice

Hi everyone
I currently sell on Ebay and have done for a few years. I made an "ok" wage from it for a while and then sold the business (again through Ebay). I am currently starting another company and will begin trading in approx 4 weeks, initially through Ebay whilst the site is being built.

The Ebay user Id I wanted has been taken and never been used, Ebay say if I want it I have to make the "user" an offer to "purchase" it.

This is where i'm a little stumped. How much would I offer/how much is it worth?

I only have limited funds but want to look as professional as possible.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks Rich

This sounds dodgy to me - I'd just get a user id that's free. I've never heard of ebay letting anyone "sell" a user id - are you sure it's ebay you're dealing with?

I did not think ebay allowed seller to sell an ID- I suspect another customer services rep talling someone exactly what they want to hear and not understanding their own rules.

    Here's the rules from eBay.

See if you can make something out of it. It never came into my mind to buy/sell user id. So does the rules says but you never know anything can happen now-a-days !
    Bargains I love !

transfer your eBay account (including feedback) and user ID to another party without our consent

If you have permission (which the OP seems to have) it's fine. Personally I'd first ask for the username, see if they reply and go from there, however if the account is many years old they probably won't check the associated email any more.
