Advice needed

My sister is working at a dental practice as a nurse. She started as a trainee until she qualified sometime last year. She also started at the same time as another trainee who qualified earlier than my sister due to not having to resit the exam.

Anyway, she just text me saying that the other trainee has just recieved a payrise whereas my sister hasnt. She says this is down to her taking an exam my sister hasnt even been put forward for, due to the fact she had to resit her last exam.

Is the employer allowed to do that?

Thanks in advance!

    Yes!

The employer can discriminate in any way he likes except for the handful of reason proscribed by law (e.g race, religion, sexual orientation etc).
  • As above. There is no legal right to be paid the same as someone else as long as the grounds aren't on sex, religion, race etc.

But even your sister admits the other trainee is now more qualified than she is which is sufficient enough.
  • Thanks guys.
