Very true. For £13-£14 an hour yes, its worth while, for £6 or so thats a different story. But I asked the Job centre today. If you turn down a job within a 60 min drive you could lose your JSA.

Only if you drive and you have a car as a possible means of transport

taxi to nearest town and bus from there? Same where I live, but within 3/4 miles there are both trains and buses.

you need to clarify the most obvious questions and see if there is a transportation allowance for the training period as this is not the regular place of work. But ultimately if it isnt this job, you are left in same situation with JSA potentially being sanctioned if you are unable to travel a reasonable distance, and 20 miles is not unreasonable for anyone.

Edit@ also, too late for me to google it now, but there are websites where you can register for a lift share scheme....you will no doubt find someone else making similar journey, and can contribute to their fuel costs
  • Bus services are being cut back right across Cambridgeshire due to the
axing of bus subsidies. The expense claiming fools at the council, Claim
the buses could be replaced by minibuses run by local community groups
Which can never be relied on as it will depend on people being available
to drive the minibus. What buses we do have now tend to run for the benefit
of the bus pass holders. As for the local taxi's, You can not get one before
8.30am or one after 6.00pm. Damn pain as my train departs at 8.00am and
the return train does not get in until 6.30pm (2 1/2 mile walk each way)

that is potentially a cycle ride though...

I understand as I do live in a rural area, in fact for hubby to get to work for 7am in the city centre he would have to leave village at 5pm night prior. So unfortunately petrol and car ownership and expensive bills are par for the course in most villages unless we move to somewhere on a bus route.
  • Use of the bike is out for me, Iam carrying a briefcase plus two equipment cases.
Apart from that I would not leave the bike at the station, Too many 'light
    fingered' lowlife around that area.

falko you seem to be full of reasons not to take the job and not very much about "how can I make it work". Is that correct? What sort of advice do you really want?
