Bleaching white school shirts

These are polo shirts im refering to and covered on anything from paint to dinner and black felt pen:eek:
Im going to have to bleach them im thinking as they really don't look like persils going to shift it alone. So do I bleach them in a bucket now from dry or do I wash them with persil first then when wet add to a bucket of bleach solution?
Many thanks

  • What is the exact fabric-content of these shirts? If 100% cotton I'd put them in a dilute solution of bleach. Doesn't matter whether they're wet or dry. I'd do this before laundering them. I'm assuming that you've already had a go at the stains with a nailbrush first.

If they're a blend of synthetics I wouldn't go anywhere near them with chlorine bleach as they could go yellow. In which case I'd invest is some Nappisan and chuck that in the drum of the machine with the Persil

This is why I love MSE sometimes. I just know that someone, somewhere is thinking the same as me and its likely to be posted here!

After looking at my kids shirts today after accidentally comparing them to a new white shirt I have, they need doing desperately. So will check the labels in the morning.
  • Hi Skylight dont suppose your also wondering how much your cats cost to feed and care for as well are you? and how my 8 month old can manage to fit her whole fit in her mouth? maybe were secret sisters in a past life.
The tops are polo type and according to the label 100% cotton

I would try Napisan or Biotex (if you can get it). you then just soak the polo shirts overnight and wash in the usual way the next day.
