Posting this link as thought it may be of interest to some people. All I can say is I am not shocked in the slightest and it's about time!

The store giant has lost market share to small budget chains like Iceland, Aldi and Lidl. Bigger rivals, particularly Asda and Sainsbury’s, are also doing relatively well.
I personally have noticed a massive increase in my local Lidl's footfall these last 6 months or so, the car park is getting busier and busier on a weekly basis. Maybe others have seen increased customer flow in the other stores??

Completely agree. My local Lidl is getting more people through the door. The car park seems pretty busy but as I don't drive I haven't really noticed if the car park is busier per say. When I walk to Lidl I always pass someone who is carrying a full Lidl bag, I know that's an assumption they have just come from Lidl but that is the only supermarket on the street etc.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -
I completely agree with the op. The downturn for Tesco has long been overdue. Tesco like all the other major supermarkets have been pulling the wool over their ciustomers eyes for far too long and it was only a matter of time. They are getting hit the most because their tactics are the most devious.0

I rarely shop in Tesco and when I do its for a few odds and sods only do a full shop when I get offered a voucher. I distrust Tesco far more than any other supermarket. I tend to shop I Sainsburys mostly now topping up with Aldi and Iceland/Heron0

I don't like Tesco, our local Tesco Express is wall to wall carbs and the local 24hr Tesco can only manage to provide half the Internet order if you don't want subs. I think there is something of a backlash going on too against them.0

aw pitty..............HAHAHA ........not:rotfl:
serves their own right, in my opinion i think they thought they were untouchable.... I really hope this continues.... share prices down.... turnover down...profits down.......possible store closures,....stop expansion plans....well i can dreamWork to live= not live to work0 -
Customers, who have continued to see big increases in the cost of putting food on the table, have apparently not been convinced about the price cutting claims.
Yup, that's about the size of it.
For example; Tesco own brand 1ltr extra virgin olive oil featured in the 'Big Price Drop' before Xmas, down to £2.69 a bottle. Price after Xmas, £4.39 a bottle! 10% more than what Sainsbury's charge and 25% more than ASDA.0 -
