Well done, ive also just started tackling my debt of around £10,000. With 2 kids it can be hard, but we seem to worry more about them doing without than they do.
I have really started to watch the money at spend on groceries and am keeping a spending diary, Have only spent around £45 this week and me freezer is full of food.
    Good luck on your journey

    Hi hon,

thanks so much. You're so right about the kids, DD doesn't ask for much at all and DS is only 1 so has no clue....and far too much stuff as it is!! Spending diary for us will be starting next week....this week is a really bad one money wise, just enough to cover essentials, none left to waste n we both know it. The trouble comes when there is a bit extra available. DH works loads so as long as I provide him with food he'll not go near a bank and lets me know what n when he needs it.

I'm working all weekend so won't be spending, just need to remember and take food which is a challenge when I leave at before 6am, nah I've been good since I started.

So glad ds is out of the 10 nappies a day age lol, he's in asda little angels, 2 big packs for £10 they'll last a few weeks (hopefully) unless he gets upset tummy lol.

Now all I need is a field and a cow or two to keep us in milk,
    xxxxxxx
  • I've just cut our food budget from £120 to £60 a week and feeling very proud of myself. I'm just so much more aware of what we have been spending and what we have been throwing away - hope you have the same success

Hi everyone n thanks for your posts,

well I'm shattered lol, a 12.5 hr day in medical care of elderly ward and another one in a mixed palliative care n strokes ward plus 1.5 hours drive each way to get there n back = very tired toots!!! BUT both good days with lovely staff.

Today won't be a nsd as I need to buy the parts for Grants car as they're essential, think dh nicked a few £££ out my purse too so will ask him n make a note of what it is n what for (he did ask btw he doesn't just take it...I'd bite his hand off these days LOL)

Paige has dancing tonight so off to my sis in laws at 3 for a catch up n kids will get tea. I've got chicken out freezer for me n dh, think I'll make a curry as have all ingredients in. Think I need to buy bread too (mil didn't bring breadmaker I think) Will update all spends on here tonight

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ah well, its been a quiet week so far, not much to report on spending front but pay day tomorrow n time to get some debts back up to date. Have to part with some £££ today as Dylan needs new shoes and as he's just learning to walk I want them fitted properly. Once he's on his feet properly I'll happily e-bay lol.

Good news is DH's work is getting busy again so could be up to £200 a week extra for us...even better news is he's had his LB moment. He suddenly realised how much spare we'd have if had no cc's to pay and is totally committed to getting them paid off and living frugally for the next couple years to enjoy the rest of our lives comfy.

BUT I feel down, I'm gutted that these late payments could muck us up for next 6 years, we were hoping to move in 3 years when our loan is paid off but with these late/missed payments on our credit files and dh being self employed, increasing mortgage may well be a nightmare/ Only hope I think is that we've never missed a mortgage payment so maybe halifax would consider us as we'll have been with them 10 years by then. Not actually defaults on cc's just been a struggle last couple months :(
  • aaaaaaahhhhhhhh thats a bit better

    I have just paid

    £83....asda

Still gonna be skint for good few weeks as am due mum £500 still and our mortgage and loan come out in same week this month  but nevermind, pay on 2nd March will all go to mum and that'll be her settled :T

Bought myself a new book to write everything down in yest (home bargains so got change from £1) and Dylans shoes set us back £32 :doh:

Don't worry about those missed payments at the moment. Although they stay on your credit record for some time, if the past 36 payments are all ok I'm sure that's the main thing they look at. Particularly at this state of the economy. Once things improve I expect these months will be put down to the economy and the last few years records will be what matters. My credit file looks like a child got at it with red and green crayons and if I were to apply for credit face to face I imagine they'd burst out laughing and call their colleagues in saying to me "tell them what you just asked me"! But I do believe that a 2 or 3 year immaculate record will bump up the ratings and having the mortgage up to date will also hopefully be a redeeming factor.

To be fair, too many of us are in the same situation and the elite few won't be enough to keep the banks in interest payments.

I hope you're feeling better about things today and fantastic news your DH had his LB moment! It's great when it comes together like that as you'll be working as a better team now. :D

    Hi hon,

thanks so much, thats cheered me up...I did kinda think that in this economy they'd have to take things into consideration. I feel better being able to answer the phone now that stuff is paid up again lol plus hsbc called and I explained I'd put money into acc not realising there'd been a charge applied so it got swallowed up n won't be able to pay til Tuesday and she was lovely, so was the lady from next when I paid £70 and explained I'd pay the rest on Tuesday.

I felt awful thinking the last few months had mucked us up for 6 years especially as its me thats in charge of paying stuff but now I'm just determined to ensure its all in time from now on. My play.com balance is down to £350 and I pay £25 a month so I may try n get rid of that asap and my hsbc one at £500(ish) which is £15 a month, although they are small balances its 2 accounts I could close and £40 that can go to something else.....plus, paying the payments I am, the cards may be small but will be there forever
