Freezing Tesco's Chick n gammon pies?

Hi

On Sunday last thing, I popped in my local T3sc0s and I picked up a few chicken and gammon pies from the deli counters - they were being reduced from £2 to 20p. :D

I've not tried them before and asked the lad at the counter if it's ok to freeze (no storage instructions on the wrappers just bake for 20 mins at med heat).

But the lad said he'd didn't think so (I don't think he knew much about the product, but I thanked him for his patience with my Q's and for making these reductions).

So, does anyone know - or have enjoyed these pies before?

I bought 8 of these pies and thought they'd come in handy for when my energy levels are depleted, etc.

Thanks, looking forward to mse advice. :)

  • Does it say anything on the packaging? Usually it says something along the lines of 'this product has been previously frozen' in which case no you can't freeze it. If it doesn't say anything to that effect then I'd probably freeze them but make sure they're really well heated through when you come to eat them.

No, the white wrappers just had heating instructions.

    Great!
The instructions say 'bake for 20-25 mins' (I'm assuming when bought chilled from the store), but how long extra for from frozen (sorry)? :o

When bought chilled, do you have to bake them, or can you eat them straight away at room temperature (sorry)?

I defrost them in the microwave then heat them up gently after defrosting or scoff them at room temperature.I usually buy a big pie & cut into quarters & freeze it in its tray & paper bag (GF's a veggie)then take a portion out of the freezer & allow to defrost over night in the fridge, then about an hour before I want it,I take it out of the fridge & allow it to come up to room temperature.
