Went to see Gone Girl last night. It was a really taut thriller (although not such a surprise to those who had read the book!) and, comparing Rosamund Pike's role in this to her wholesome, fluffy one in 'What We Did on our Holiday' - well, there is no comparison. She was a revelation from start to finish.
Always suspected she could act her socks off, but this is the first time I have actually seen her do so.
Ben Affleck was less impressive - he fell back on his 'big, dumb hunk' standby performance for most of the film - although, given the plot (which I shan't spoil for you), this was understandable.
Excellent movie, but I would warn those with less than eagle-like spans of concentration, this lasts a bum-numbing two and a half hours and is very gory in parts. But can't fault the performances, I was genuinely frightened of some of the characters by the end!
Definitely a 'go-see'0 -
Does anyone know if there is a minimum age for showfilmfirst membership please? Wanting to send my 14 year old and her friend to see maze runner foc.

I've not read the book of synopsis of the film, assumed I was taking the wife to see a rom com, could not have been further from the truth!
Looking forward to the maze runner tonight.0 -

So sad I missed this, but I was just too tired to be bothered getting the train. I'll have to pay for it instead0 -
I enjoyed Gone Girl but was disappointed with the ending.0

I thought the film was ok but had more questions than answers by the end of it. Having not read the books, this may well be how it should be and would therefore give it the benefit of the doubt and go to see the next film in the series, should this get off the ground:p0 -

I agree entirely, it was OK, but OK, not good in my opinion, very one dimensional. As you say, wide open for the next one.0 -
