  • Was the beat pad from the Olympic Torch Relay IMWT? If anyone on here hasn't seen the relay yet, look out for the Coca-Cola Bus as they dispense various freebies from it. Including the beat pad, a mini bodhran (hand drum) but with paper instead of goatskin.

yes the beat pad was from the olympic torch relay. you have to be either a child or a parent/grandparent with child to get most of the freebies. didnt fancy the hat and missed out on the backpack. the women all passed me over for the beatpad and i only got one from the guy that was giving it out. guys have no chance at freebies.

More advice for getting the torch relay freebies:
    • They give them out on the left of the direction of travel only.
    • They tend not to give them out on the minor roads that are being run along, only the major roads with lots of people, near town centres, famous torch bearers, etc.
    • Be 'reasonably' forceful to get them. I don't want to incite violence, but you need to be quick to get them out of their hands. Although again, that said I suppose they're not going to hand them to you if you're being unfair.
    • You obviously need to be right at the front, and crowds gather quickly and around you, so make sure not to get pushed back by others. Oh yeah, and the convoy handing them out is usually about 5 minutes in front, so again get there in enough time. I actually saw the torch three times by running in between street that the relay zigzagged across, but only got free stuff the last time as the first two roads were obviously not popular enough.
    • Perhaps pass any you get to other people you're with to hold on to for you so that your hands are free for any more that may come along?

A small plastic Cath Kidston bus pass holder. (handing them out in Liverpool1) Quite handy as my old plastic rail card holder was almost worn out. Also gave a code for 15% off any full priced items on the website.
BAGSK if anyone is interested; I have also posted this on the Vouchers thread.
