Making money living by a train station?

Hi all
I live very close to a small/medium sized rail station, and wondered if I could make any money using this as an opportunity. For example maybe I could wash cars etc
Really struggling for spare cash and ideas. Everything I thing of seems to be already being done by someone else.
Thanks

Have you a drive way you could charge parking for?0

Wash cars/valeting etc I am actually thinking of doing this myself as I have spent a fair bit on chemicals, polish to clean my car not the usually cheap stuff I may add and I would do far better job than car wash scratching your car and supermarket hand washes again scratching your car
Using your driveway as said
How about providing papers, sandwiches to order for next day asking for small deposit to cover costs then next day they pay for sandwich/paper0 -
Agreed it costs £590 a year to park at my local station.....and that's if I would actually pay that which I don't. It's £6 a day and to me it's cheaper to get a taxi there and back. The closest free all day parking is just under a mile away about 15 minutes walk away. If someone within a 5 minute walk advertised a parking spot for half that I'd take it.Morethanconcerned wrote: »Have you a drive way you could charge parking for?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Room to rent out for people missing their train and having to stay overnight. Alternatively some people end up with a few hours to hang around during the day (especially when it is raining)
Tax free also under the governments room to let scheme.0 -
Thanks all.
I live in a rented house so not sure if I can rent out driveway.
The car park at the station is free, but there are not enough places. Most commuters who are not on the early trains have to park quite a distance from the staion.
How would the deposit work for the papers? Can these not be purchased on the train?
Thanks all0 -

House too small and rented. Thanks anyway0 -
mate, buy a 'burger van' and sell breakfast sandwiches, tea and coffee to station users and passers by... quids in!To have integrity means that you don't agree with everyone you meet, nor do you succumb to pressure to be something that is in direct conflict with your core ethics.0

I think refreshments are the way to go. Even a few cold drinks and packets of crisps - things that don't go off basically, just to test the water. Or in this weather tea and coffee in take away cups - the station where I live always has queues of people buying coffee / tea to take on the train. Especially the early morning commuters.
I wouldnt take people in who have 'missed the train'..... who knows what they could do !0 -
How close is close? Does the train station have WIFI? perhaps start up something like that. You'd have to think small, ie limit the number of people on it.0

I would agree that coffee and maybe a few refreshments would be popular - there's a small coffee stand opened a few months ago by my local station and it always seems to have a huge queue, and that's despite there actually being a small cafe in the station because the stand is cheaper! I guess you would need to check on health regulations though when selling food/drink and if you were actually set up on the street whether you would need a licence from the council.0
