Supply or production costs is the key point when you are talking about a very price sensitive market - if you can get these right then as long as everything else isnt simply terrible then the customers will still keep coming.
I would broaden your horizons than just eBay though. Obviously it greatly reduces your marketing costs but many of the prices at the moment are simply silly (somethings selling for a fraction of their cost and some second hand items selling for more than you can buy them new for). I helped a friend setup a hand painted false nails sideline.... ebay sellers were going for £4.50 inc p&p where as she can sell them for £12.50 off her website and also can cross sell other items like glue and remover etc.
The one aspect I dont like about project management is how varied the hours required are, at the moment I am in the mid phase of all my projects so I am fairly quiet and so can work from home a couple of days a week, start late/ go home early. During initiation/ fire fighting/ delivery though I have had to do 16 hours a day 7 days a week for a month or two (it was voluntary etc before anyone starts saying my employers cannot make me work that etc)
I think that many would love to do the home business.... photography or web development were always my two choices but not technically good enough at either though have done the latter as a side line. Always considered that my web skills are good enough to run a mid size website so thought about developing my own website to make money but then never had the idea of what that would be.... so I am still a Strategy & Projects Manager :rolleyes:All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
