Apparently employees can self-refer to OH in their employment, what needs to be done to get this referral. Is it just asking the employer to be sent to OH, but manager says it is up to him he has to get permission someone else in firm, is this usual. Or does the manager not want the employee to attend their OH

There is no automatic right to this. It depends on the company's policies even assuming they have some kind of OH setup and not all do.

Really need a bit more information about why this is wanted to advise further.

There is no legal right to self refer. OH "belong "to the employer and it is up to them what rules they apply. It might be better if you tell us why you are asking - a question without an explanation only gets you an answer without any advice!
  • Thanks for replying, there is an OHA service , my partner was sent to them 6 or 7 years ago and I think the employer got an answer back that they were not expecting about his health.

His GP has been asking for months for him to be referred back and employer ignored advice and at a manager recently with his manager he was told by the manager before he can self refers they have to get is consent on a form and then it will be sent to some other part of his firm for them to see if it is necessary.

    Hope that makes sense.

Why has the GP asked for him to be referred to OH?

Why can't he just sign the consent form?

This information still doesn't really tell us anything. OH also isn't at the behest of the GP. OH is the employers advisory body, and they don't need to refer to it. They may not consdier they need to. What is the actual problem?
  • He has a disability but his firm will not recognised it arthristis and affects his posture in his present post.

Need change of duties and hours but employer does not want to know this either as they will have to make adjustments but do not want to.

OK -"blood " and "stone "comes to mind! Arthritis is not automatically a disability. I really need details here. Please help me out - the more you can tell, the better the advice. If you.are worried about details in public, Pm me. But this isn't enough information.
