Don't know about 'expressive dressers', lostinrates. I seem to be permanently in jods and hay and hair-covered fleece, or jeans. The first expresses what I spend a lot of time doing, I suppose.

:). I don't get to ride much any more, but have ridden in 'expressive clothes' often enough. It all started when i realised i could ride my pony in my school unform if i hitched the skirt up. I have health probs that stop me riding, but occasionally scramble about to show a client or dh something. A couple of years ago i had to get two of the horses out of the field down the road in a hurry, and there was a monent a worried what i looked like, in a long dress riding and leading in head collars, barefoot, (i had shoes that would have fallen off while riding or been dangerous when dismounting) though a rather smart village to home. Sadly it was less romantic looking than it sounds.....my dad reckoned i loed like a bag lady on a rag and bone horse (i was moving our pensioners but they don't look that bad). The oldies liked the outing anyway.:o

I am trying to picture all of us on this thread at a 'meet'! and I can envisage a gathering of mostly middle-aged to elderly women attired in black, wearing biker boots - some of whom are pulling a shopping trolley, with a sprinkling of smartly attired women and one wearing full evening regalia (with hay in her hair). Now that would be a sight to behold! but, we would all get on famously I think!

I hope so. I keep telling dh we are middle aged now (well, almost half way through our threescore and ten) but he says we are still young just well used.

Can i ask the cloak wearers if they have made or bought their cloaks?

I really want a cloak.....i find coats cumbersome, especially in the evening. I don't know where to start with a pattern....
  • i have several, i bought all of mine
i couldnt make them with the same quality of material cheaper
2 of mine have antique silver clasps to fasten at the neck, these alone cost a lot
    but i love mine

I just had to ask one of DD's friends what an RPG was. I sincerely hope you meant Role Playing Games and not Rocket-Propelled Grenades:D

Yes, I meant Role Playing Games. :rotfl:

I just noticed that I must have deleted the second half of my post, when I went on to mention OS stuff. So here's an attempt to restate it all:

On an OS theme, my work suits are either charity shop finds, bought in the sales or purchased on my once-every-two-years clothes shopping trip in France. My jeans are either from the N*xt sale or Mr T's Value range. And any posh frocks are usually home made. Most of my make-up comes from the clearance shelves at Boots.

Oh, and I'm the one who wanders around the supermarket arguing prices with her husband. ("We can get that cheaper in xxxxx" is my frequent cry.)
"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Sigh at changing something and the whole post going into the ether

Meritaten your post made me laff, and in a good way, I have been having what my Oh would call 'a condor moment' all day today and your post was the first that really made me laugh out loud.
