I'm ok with teh credit card as I pay that by transfer, but I don't think I will get away with cancelling the loan DD, as I have read on here that the bank will just reinstate it and take the money anyway as it is with Lloyds and I bank with them.
I'm worried because people seem to have a couple of months of token payments to build up a little safety net and I don't think I will be able to do that, so if anything breaks down I am stuffed.
I am going through the motions of DRM and need to set up a A.c with coop for myself as we are splitting up.
We have a joint A/c with Santander with DD,s and my wages payed in,
Can I open coop and have my wages payed in straight away, but defer DD,s until my partner and I decide about joint A/c.??0 -

Hi there.
I went in at dinner, spotted the guy who opened the account for me last week, and just explained I please need my account number and sort code to give to the payroll department where I work, I know its not even been 7 days yet but please can you help as I've had no post yet arrive yet....
After a few clicks later he'd written them down on a business card & reassured me the paperwork & debit card have been posted, I just need to wait! :j
I then went back to work and rang payroll, she said I was sooooooooooo lucky as if it was tomorrow, I'd have missed the automated deadline, and she asked me to print out my details and sign it, and fax her the details. I asked for confirmation this would be done in time, and hopefully will have a phone message or email waiting for me tomorrow.
So, touch wood, my wages will now permanently be paid into said new Co-Op bank account, and nothing will go back into the current "current" account. The only thing in that is -£198.99 overdraft.
By the skin of me teeth I think I have pulled this off :rotfl:
Sorry if I sound like I'm gloating, I don't mean to, I'm just pleased at least this has gone right for me today - when everything else is a right mess

I would now like to add that the online banking is dire, really archaic
Paid my rent last Friday 17th, it has only just showed up *NOW* - Wednesday 22nd - as having coming out my account.
Not impressed at all. Just make sure you keep a pen and paper and do your balancing the old fashioned way.
There needs to be a petition or something about this terrible online service
Phone service and in branch = 10/10
Online banking = 2/10 (well, you can log in I suppose)..0 -
Earthmother wrote: »Thanks for the reply. I filled in the online DMP thing with CCCS and printed off the pack. I have to fill in and sign the direct debit form but can't do that until I have the new bank account set up. I am really nervous about it all to be honest. We too have a mortgage and that is with C&G through Lloyds. We are in a mess all our debt is with them as well as our bank account. When we went to them before saying we had too much on and were struggling to manage they just threw more credit at us and stupidly we took it
We have our mortgage and a loan with Yorkshire Bank, but the loan in included in the DMP and the mortgage is not.
We've had no issues over this.Earthmother wrote: »I'm not so worried about our credit rating, it's the threatening letters/calls I am worried about. Also what if the boiler breaks or something. We don't have any money in reserve and it will take time to save an emergency fund. This month we can avoid paying the credit card and send a token amount, but I can't avoid paying the loan I don't think. Another thing that worries me is what if the mortgage payment goes up. At the moment we are paying a variable rate and if interest goes up we won't be in a position to negotiate a better deal and will be stuffed.
We haven't had any threatening letters. We've had a couple saying 'oi' but that's about it, and we've ignored them anyway.
We also don;t have an emergency fund set up, but when we needed money to get repairs on the car, we just rang CCCS up and they reduced their DD for that month to give us the extra money we needed. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70
