Welcome Finance Collections Policy???

Hi All,

to my misfortune i took out a loan with Welcome Finance for £17,000 years ago - I still owe about 13,000 on this even though i have paid pack well over £25,000!!!

anyway, thats my fault and due to credit rating i cant re-mortgage just now to clear it (maybe next year)

However, for some unknown reason my o/time wasnt paid so my DD bounced with Welcome (bearing in mind i must be there best customer ever and never missed a payment before!) I have been away and didnt realise until i got home the payment had bounced and on my phone i had 5 voicemails from them in 5 days (so 1 a day from the day my DD bounced) plus i have a letter from them posted through my door from a collection agent visiting my house without any notice!!! Is this allowed? Can they just turn up 6 days after a bounced payment without any warning as well? I dont believe this is correct although they say it is within the agreement rights? so 6 days after a bounced payment they bang on your door with no notice or warning? Is anyone aware this can happen so quickly and surely they have to warn you??? That cant be right can it???

thanks in advance

Gary.

A sub prime lender will have a process in place for non payment. If you'd have answered the first call, then the odds are that may have been the end of the matter :)

Yes they can use a doorstop agent to deliver a letter instead of royal mail.
They can send a doorstop agent to visit you unless you specifcally revoke their right to do so. (there are templates if you want to do this).

A doorstop collection agent has absolutely no powers whatsoever. If they knock to discuss your debt simply ask them to leave. They are nothing like a bailiff. A bailiff could not come so quickly, and could not be instructed at all until after a court hearing.

It would of been a welcome employee not dca, people seem to get their backs up when there isnt a need. Just been honest and open otherwise people treat you back the same.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
