Jeggings-are they passe ?

Hi, I was a late convert t the leggings/jeggings look but now am totally addicted to the look and comfort. Most days I wear them with boots and a mid thigh top . I have now quite a collectrion of nice tops this lenght and hardly any shorter ones that hit the waist.
Been thinking though, I am not aware of others wearing the same look. I have a horrible feeling I missed them going out of favour and am now looking ridiculously outdated?!
If so what has taken their place?
I am 51, tall with a reasonably good figure. I've got some nice dresses but they arent the sort of thing I like to wear in the house all day and out dog walking:)
Any thoughts? No need to be kind ! Am I a fashion dinosaur?

Fashion dinosaur? Not according to the New Look website!

I wear the long tops, plain dark jeggings and boots combo all the time for the occasions you describe. Comfortable, neat and figure flattering.

My hip and trendy contemporaries would tell you that jeggings have never been fashionable and are rather a faux pas. However that's pretty much based on fat chicks wandering around town in them, making them look awful.

I think the 'uggs and long jumper' look is fab on someone with a decent figure - go girl!

Thanks, just feeling insecure because friends of my age are more of the tailored trouser worn with heels and blouse type.Nothing wrong with that, they look good but being tall its hard to get things right. Blouses/shirts wont stay tucked in on my longer body!
Also, I think I am lazy and cant bear to dress several times a day for shopping/lunch/ dog walk and cold house.

  • If you look good and more importantly feel good wearing it, what's the problem?

Outdated? It's not about fashion it's about style. If the style suits you - wear it !

I'm lazy too and love to be comfortable and fashionable, I wear the same sort of combo as you lots of the time, I have recently moved on to high waisted thick leggings/jeggings with no zip and a slightly shorter but still loose fitting top, still comfy and very flattering but a nice change, if you don't need to wear fitted, tailored or more grown up clothes then don't, I am so grateful not to have to dress smartly everyday, it can be very aging you know, we are the fortunate ones;)

Not a fashion dinosaur at all!! Sounds like a very trendy look : - )

I work in Leeds and always feel uber uncool next to all the trendsetters. However I have noticed jodphur style leggings, patterned leggings and coloured leggings are the most upto date looks at the moment. Likewise so are coloured skinny jeans. I was shocked the other day when my 58yr old mum had been looking at coloured skinny jeans before I have! She also feels like a fashion dinosaur but to me she looks ace!

Lol it was meant to mean that its a universal style and not dated, she wears hers with accessories and shoes we probably wouldn't want to wear but its a variation on the same theme, I'm 43 and cant really see my style being less fashionable when I'm 51 and why should it be?, we can still dress appropriately for example without out boobs hanging out and be on trend and look great:)

My avatar is a watercolour of mine from about two years ago, glad you like it:)
