Mon 30th Jan - What small DFW things will you be doing?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!:D
Morning everyone - happy Monday;) We have snow here - but a useless amount, not enough to give us all a snow day...so off to work I will go:o
I'm really tired as I bought a sleep cycle app at the weekend...it's meant to wake you when you're in a light sleep and monitor how you do sleep - but I keep waking up wondering if it's noticed:rotfl: So think I'll not bother tonight!
Anyway - time for my list:
:)Check banking - done, all ok
:)Check Onepoll etc
:)Walk to work - better wrap up warm
:)NSD - just need milk from the grocery budget
:)Packed lunch for myself and dd2, dd1 takes a drink from home and lunch at school
:)Heating on low if we can bear it:o
:)Meal from plan tonight - chicken pie, mash and carrots
:)heating off the airer and put away
:)Unplug chargers ect that aren't used
Ok then - that's my lot - have a great day:A

Morning, bit of a strange one as the electric went off last night and as a consequence the bedroom lights came on at a random time of the night (it has a remote controller and apparently this is overridden by the breaking of a circuit.) It also managed to naff up the central heating timing so it was FREEZING when I got up. Result was me running on the spot as I as getting dressed to sort it all out - DH was groaning in bed typical! Very awake very quickly as a result and still not too sure where I am!
So today I have or I will:
Charge phones at work
Drink plenty of free tea at work (well fruity tea anyway as I don't do normal tea)
Walk dog (done)
Check bank accounts and credit cards just in case the money fairy has been - 2 more days to pay day!
Sort out the travel ticket I need for tomorrow (lunch provided for free goodie)
Complete expense form and put in so can be paid for extra mileage once have made final purchase today - hooray more money didn't expect!
Drive very slowly so can eek out the diesel for the whole week (but less one day as going to town so perfectly feasible)
Lunch and dinner from stores and freezer so all good there plus remains of pineapple upside down cake made last night as dinner was cooking
Go to gym tonight to max out that membership
Currently beat myself over the head as forgot the pineapple remains from fridge when collected lunch, clearly the rude bright light and then cold awakenings are not doing my brain cell any favours today! Oh well can munch them tomorrow on the train instead - no problems.
Happy Monday all and here's to another week of money saving!Start info Dec11

Hi all
Snow/ sleet this morning..even DD1 decided to put some gloves on!! She normally likes to wear no coat and no jumper!!
Got off to a good start this morning and then got caught up with work for last 2 hours even though it's my day off...my fault entirely but amazing how the hours fly!
OH working from home today so even though in different rooms nice to have him around and we will have lunch together later..a rare treat!!
So today I have:
- made more rye and linseed bread in the BM..yum yum..but did use the July 2010 OOD dried milk powder and decided enough was enough. I was feeling queasy so it had to go!! :rotfl:
- put a veggie, pearl barley and bean stew in SC which we will have with roasted beetroot ( not an obvious combination :Dcos they are there and I have sour cream to use up) We will have the stew and beet roots with yorkshires which the DDs will love
- washing on low and then racks to dry
- DDs sandwiches for lunch, ekes out the school dinner money
- have discussed envelope idea for entertainment spends with OH and we will do that for Feb. Also agreed to changing plans for one weekend so we are frugal. Friends over and we will cook a Sunday lunch instead of going out on Saturday eve. Our weekend away we will indeed take our own wine as was suggested :j
- OH taking some leave so no childcare costs for INSET days that seemed to come out of nowhere
I will:
- make a PAD and chase bank for info on that weird Direct debit which I don't recognise
- do a meal planner for next fortnight and revised veggie box order
- take up new CS work trousers and wear this week
- help DD1 with her homework..not MSE..but on the To Do List!
- rather than buying more will be grinding up old coffee beans from back of cupboard..well not dead yet!!
- write to insurers re the additional info they have asked for and for some of it, pointing out where it has been sent already
- will think of a free valentines present for OH
- will regift a present which was lovely..but I really don't need any more toiletries...and will give to my MIL for her birthday
- have one of my yummy choccie biscuits with a coffee!!! yay! The life I lead:rotfl:
Have a great day folks

Hello there :hello:
I had my appraisal at work that completely helped to make up my mind about leaving. Totally feel like I went over and above my role last year - with the effort I put into my own work and how much I helped out other collegues - and still walked out with a 'meets expectations'. This translates as 'standard pay rise'. Shouldn't have bothered putting in any extra effort as I'm pretty sure I would've walked out with the same. Apparently it's just expected that I keep the whole team afloat and take on extra responsibility off my own back… Rubbish. I completely don't agree with taking on more responsibility without getting the recognition/pay to match. Let the job search commence!
Here's my small things:
- Brekkie at home
- Free cuppa x 2 in work
- Walked to work
- Walking to yoga
- Catching bus home (need to spend £3.10 today but means I save £7.60 a week in travel)
- £5 Monday treat - some new pens
- Remind OH to put his £££ into the joint a/c - ready for bills coming out on the 1st
- Pay phone bill
- Job search/work on CV
- Look for a cheap double bed frame
- Look for cheap dvd rack
- Order cheap but decent looking air bed
- Start a film jar - OH and I put a few quid in when we order a film online - no surprises when our bill comes in - will probs just spend £5 a month. 0
