I rely on really cheap fruit so I'm only paying out for the sugar, I was lucky enough to be given some blackcurrants last year which have languished in the freezer ever since, there's no reason why it couldn't be made with blackberries from the hedgrow or if you can buy a bulk load of oranges or lemons at the market (we have a stall which sells boxes of fruit for about £2) it can be done with anything that will release some juice.

You never know how much syrup you will get, it depends on what fruit it is, that's why you have to measure it when you've simmered and sieved really.

I've been drinking chilled water for the last few weeks.

However, with dinner tonight I had some no added sugar Asda Lemon & Lime diluting juice. Tasted like I had use same quantity of juice to water! Had a second mug and paid closer attention (ie wasn't on autopilot) to the amount used which was less than I used to - still tasted as strong! Guess I've weaned myself off it these last few weeks

My two and me like squash but I never put as much in as the bottle says. It's always just a splash to flavour the water! I've noticed when other children come in they say our squash isn't nice, and one boy made his own with half squash and half water

My children drink plenty water and fresh fruit juice too, but like squash for their packed lunch boxes and some drinks. I believe a little is ok in moderation, but wouldn't make them have squash all the time.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Hi

We drink loads of squash but very watery. I buy the value orange (18p 1 ltr) and the blackcurrant/apple (28p 1 ltr) and one of these last over a week and we have quite a few glasses each day. We drink water otherwise. When I do a shop online from Asda I treat ourselves to 4 of the value lemonades (15p 2ltrs)...sad I know, but DD knows that when its gone its gone..lol.

I get this too. My DD friends seem to drink it really strong. My DD starts coughing like mad if the squash is too strong. Normally put about 1cm of squash in bottom of glass and top up with water.
