With nearly 3 months to go before the subject matter of this thread is actioned ...... I'm not sure that putting it in writing is an issue?

It's certainly the route I'd take if I suddenly had a door mat full of P2s .... when I was only expecting one.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • I just wasted 51 minutes and 41 seconds on hold to HMRC's PAYE helpline. Gave up as I could picture whole civilisations rising and falling before I got through to an adviser. What a bloody joke.

Breaking news - in Piltdown, archaeologists today unearthed a caveman sekeleton believed to have been there for 20,000 years. The right hand side of his or her skull was somewhat worn, one theory is he or she picked up the phone to the HMRC helpline 20,000 years ago.....

  • Been trying to contact hmrc for the past 2 days at different times. I can't get through ...is it another casualty of the recession? Has it closed down? Tried too many different departments 0845 & 0300 numbers and been on hold for over 4 hours over 2 days. Will call them back when I take my holidays as I currently:mad: don't have the time or patience at the moment. Oh and think the solution might not be to pay up and leave it up to them to phone me. Will give them my premium rate number and keep them on hold.

Which bit of HMRC is it that you want to contact? I find that calling at 08:00 is best, you might still have to wait but I've usually had my call answered within a few minutes. If you have a contract mobile or any time calls on your landline then the 0300 numbers should be included (and possibly 0845 on the landline).

    The new HMRC Charter commitment:

Calls made from 0800 to 0810 will be answered after 5 minutes. Calls made during the rest of the day will sometimes be cut off and sometimes answered after 25 minutes.
