FTB mortgage

Me and my wife have a combined salary of £34,000 per annum.

I think we can get a mortgage for around £139,000 on our income - can we get a higher mortgage than this? Or will most lenders not risk this.

Generally we don't have any debts apart from general household expenses.

I am happy to provide further info if required.

Thanks.

Potentially you can get higher than that.

It will depend on what mortgage term you are looking at, what the purchase price is, what deposit you have and what your credit score is like with any particular lender.

As long as you have no credit commitments i.e. cards/loans/HP etc - then al lender will be able to take into account 100% of your income

  • I will have no credit card or HP to pay.

I am looking at a 30 year mortgage. I am 25 and my wife 24.

I've been looking at properties around the 170,000 mark - I'm guessing that it maybe possible to pick up a mortgage with our income.

You should be fine - what deposit do you have?

  • I should have a deposit of around £10k plus around £5k for solicitors etc. and another £4k for furniture etc.
