in Cutting tax
Morning all, I hope someone can advise me here.
I am with Inland Solutions and they have just completed my 2010-2011 tax return for me.
My total liabilty is £596.40
I have a refund available to me of £119.45
Leaving me an outstaning balance of £476.95 to pay.
Where does this figure come from??? I started a couple of jobs, had to pay emergancy tax until they gave me the correct tax code and have been paying my tax ever since.
If HMRC work out the tax codes why do I owe them anything??? What am I missing here?

What do Inland Solutions have to say on the subject?0

Not got round to asking them yet. (will call on Monday).
Inland Solutions are accountants....I gave her all the figures relating to my earnings for 2010 - 2011 including the tax I have paid out as stipulated by HMRC.
How could HMRC get it so wrong???? when they are the ones telling me how much tax I need to pay in the first place??0 -
You're making an assumption that HMRC got it wrong.
Without the full facts we cannot say why you are underpaid. We would need dates of leaving old job(s), date started new job(s), pay and tax information and details of any taxable benefits.
Believe it or not people end up underpaid through no fault of HMRC/their employer.0 -
no-one can answer anything without the facts
how much did you earn
how much tax was paid
what was your final taxcode
how much did you pay into a pension
any benefits in kind
what was the job history0
