Buying furnishings from a closed shop?

Hi all, just after a bit of advice!

I was out working today and noticed that one of the shop units I walk past with a 'To Let' sign outside had some really nice old school 50s style furniture. Proper diner stools, diner booths etc. Turns out it was a failed USA style eatery that is now a vacant shop unit.

I'm looking to get just that kind of furniture for doing up my kitchen, and the rest I could honestly buy and sell on quite easily....does anyone have experience of calling up the people on the 'To Let' sign and offering to take away/buy the furnishings?

Not sure if they'd tell me where to go or be happy for me to come in and recoup some of their costs from a vacant unit!

Honestly no idea but good shout, I reckon they'd be pleased to recoup some costs, but not exactly sure how you'd go about it - I guess calling the letting people would get the ball rolling though :D

I would think the same. They would be glad to recoup some money. Is there no info on the internet about who used to run it, maybe a contact number? Sometimes the people that let out the unit have no say on the interior so may not be able to sell it on.
Give thema try though im sure if they cant sort it for you then you could ask them to pass your details onto the person that could help you (they often cant give out details because of data protection)
When I sold my sandwich shop, the guy that bought it just shut it down, paid the rent and left everything there so in cases like that he would still have the say so but if the people have just left it all then it is the building owner
hope you manage to get it :)
