Junior PA?

So I will be having my second interview in a few days for a role as junior PA for two senior staff. Now, I have assisted colleagues before but never worked as a PA per se, and I would like to ask whoever of you that's done this how long did it take you to learn and what should I keep in mind during the interview?

Be confident but not overly so, good eye contact, smile but dont grin. Be nice.

Good luck and let us know how you get on, exciting eh..............

and we will never, ever return.
  • I would guess the two fairly probable questions/ topics would be:

    1) About diary management - something like what do you do if the section head says both of your charges must attend a team meeting but both their diaries are fully booked with division head meetings

    2) Conflicting priorities - you have two bosses, inevitably at times they are both going to have urgent things for you to do, how do you deal with it?

The second one tends to be asking you to cover off the obv things like putting in the extra hours etc but ultimately about managing expectations and either getting them to agree amongst themselves etc

Technically whoever ranks highest gets priority but its never that simple. It also depends on what the meetings would be about, so if they are discussing budgets but the other meeting would be about how to persuade Extra PLC to spend millions with your company, then you need to know.

Ultimately, diary management is not about you making decisions like that, but obtaining the right information so your bosses can make the decisions themselves (in this particular instance).
