a. If you are going to sell the house, consider the tax implications of selling - any profit must be ploughed back into property pretty sharpish so sell and buy another whilst in military digs I suggest.
b. Have you any early redemption penalty on your mortgage if you pay off a lump sum?
c. As a military guy (RN) myself, I guess you will get resettlement package, get them to pay for an IT course, HGV or bus licence, PGCE for teaching or whatever. Ask your pay office about Learning credits - the military will pay a huge amount toward some quals for you.
Good luck
ps - leaving RN myself soon no idea about job. Am commuting my pension as much a possible as money now is money now! You can never tell what is round the corner
Exactly, just what we were thinking.
RE the resettlement thing..........i knew about that and know how much i am entitled to so i might start getting some courses under my belt now rather than wait till my resettlement leave. Its just a case of deciding what to do rather than when. Do most people now have IT quals???? What do employers look for the most??? Degrees/NVQs/Experience????Lloyds TSB Loan £5500 Tesco Loan £11000

I don't know whether employers are fanatical these days about qualifications or whether experience is better. I personally don't have a degree and work in an administration capacity, my best friend carried on through school after we left and is now head of year in a senior school and earns double what I do!
I know there is quite a lot of publicity around at the moment though about the amount of students that are coming out of university with degrees and not being able to get jobs.
Try to think of something that people will always need and want. Computers have been around for quite a while and will be around for quite a bit more, but interior design I think is quite a fashionable thing that may go out of date. People always need teachers and there will always be mortgages, pensions and debts therefore there will always be a need for financial advisors.

As an Employer, I look for experience and good character in that order...qualifications are a bonus but they are not the most important thing in my line of work as we will provide the training if needed.
The most important thing is, Do something you really want to do, If that needs training or education so be it. If you have a passion for your profession...going to work is never a chore, its a pleasure.
Good luck x x0 -
