Complaining about solicitors fees

    RibenaBerry has a good point and my first instinct wasn't that the fees were actually unfair for the work done, simply that the firm have not followed the rules on billing and estimates. From personal experience, I can tell you that if (and I suggest they will) they find the solicitors have failed in the duty in relation to costs information, they will render the whole account void. They could easily have avoided this by keeping the issue of costs up to date by interim billing or correspondence.

    Thankyou for all your help in this matter im not really looking to have the bill made void just to pay the £500 he verbally estimated, When i spoke to the law society this morning the lady said"the solicitors code of practise on costs 1999 is only a guidline and not the law" but has Ribena suggested the law society said the same write to the firm again asking for them to review their bill again, which is what im doing tonight, i will post an update but once again the advise is much appreciated
