hiya and HUGE thanks for your input. My gas n elec have no debt (not from us anyway lol) but are prepayment which will be paying to change soon as got the money, my other insurance I'm sure is the life insurance. Petrol is sky high as the only job I could get is a 3 hour round trip....but am constantly applying to more local hospitals and the pros outweigh as I get 12.5 hour shifts on good wage....will def help when only a 20min drive away though! Will check overdraft n loan rates and update. So if I hit next first n get it out road then asda, fab, ......just what I was needing, kick up backside lol thanks xx

Do you actually have £300 leftover each month? It sounds as though you don't from your posts. I think it would be worth you and OH each keeping a spending diary for a month - you need to record absolutely every penny you spend, including things like coffees, takeaways, sweets/chocolate for kids, magazines.

After you've done this you should be able to see where you are "losing" this money and cut back. Things like coffees, takeaways etc really eat into your spare money.

being on a prepay meter won't be the reason your elec and gas or so high it might account for abit but generally it's not that an awful lot dearer. you still need to look at usage and shop around

we are a fimly of 5 with one in nappies, our grocery budget is £200 with room to come down in tight months, we eat really well, have including takeaways and treats, and alot of fruit and veg.I would def try to knock even £50 (if not more) off yours, take a look at the old syt;e and food shopping boards

i find sky a waste of money we've just canceled ours, with youtube, bbc iplayer and dvd's we only watch free channels anyway so canceled ours, our kids havent even noticed
remeber every penny you save no matter how small will save you in interest
    DEC GC £463.67/£450

How old or efficient is your boiler? Do you have a water tank or heat it on demand? How insulated is your home? These might be reasons your gas bill is so high, rather than the prepay meter.

where do you shop? I spend a fortune every week!!! its the fruit n veg that kills me,

we do use our sky a lot, were paying more but its down to half price for a year so will be bit less than I put.

our boiler is only few years old n its a combi, gas cooker etc too. Will be keeping a close eye on it, if I go into emerg, when I top up it takes some off me (put a fiver in last thurs to last til payday the next day, only had about £1 left of emerg...put the £5 in n it basically swallowed it n left me with £1.77)

We don't seem to be left with the £300 a month so will be keeping diary, things always crop up but not that blooming much!!
