That's all we usually use! At least, we use the flavoured philly, if you're using plain you can dress it up with herbs, chilli or other flavours. OH usually chops the stalk of the mushrooms up small and mixes that into the philly as he read somewhere that's where most of the nutrients in mushrooms are.
We bake ours in the oven for 25mins at 180. We usually put them on a rack as a lot of liquid comes out of the mushrooms and they can end up soggy.0 -
I fry my mushrooms with butter and oil and some garlic until they are soft through and then add the stuffing with breadcrumbs over the top..Grill or bake until the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
I like to keep the liquid as it is great for soaking bread in for a cooked breakfast or using with some mushroom ketchup to add to soup or stews.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

I know the 'stuff a mushroom' comes from Shirley Conran's Superwoman book. I always just assumed she was doing it wrong :rotfl:0 -
What I like to do for breakfast is to brush a large portabello mushroom with butter & grill it,then about 3 minutes from serving,crack an egg into the upturned mushroom & bung in the oven to finish cooking & set the egg...0
